Hi, I’m Tom Lawson, a freelance writer, editor and proofreader pursuing my lifelong obsession with words and language.
I am an adaptable writer and can alter my style to suit a wide variety of audiences. During my career I have produced copy for everything from national newspapers, to major crowdfunding campaigns and academic texts, to social media marketing posts. As a journalist I love delving into new topics and have covered a broad range of subjects, with a particular focus on the environment, social justice and ethical issues.
This site shows just a small sample of my writing, which has appeared in numerous publications including The Guardian, New Internationalist, Positive News, Open Democracy, Yes! Magazine, Occupy, The Outdoor Adventure Guide, Truthout, International Political Forum and Soapbox.
I also spent three years as an assistant editor at Positive News – the constructive journalism magazine. There I gained extensive experience of proofreading, subediting, fact checking and copywriting, and throughout my career have nurtured a deep fondness for accurate spelling and grammar.
